The second complex of criticisms reflects the humanist tradition of art history as a genealogy of masters and pupils, which reflected ancient writings on art. As aids to understanding Giovio’s Latin text, German, Italian, and English versions of the text are provided, as well as an outline analysis of the structure and content of the text.
