Abstract
Der Autor beschreibt in seinem Beitrag die Rolle des Militärs bei der politischen Entwicklung Pakistans seit der Unabhängigkeit 1947. Der mehrfache aktive Einfluss auf Regierungswechsel zeugt von einer aktiven Rolle des Militärs im politischen System des Landes. Seit dem Rücktritt Pervez Musharrafs, ehemaliger Generalstabschef und spätere pakistanischer Militärmachthaber und Präsident, stellt sich erneut die Frage, inwieweit die Armee weiterhin politische Entscheidungen beeinflussen wird.
