Abstract

The paper is the result of a presentation at a Conference on Transnationalism and Development: Towards a North South Perspective at the University of Bielefeld. With experiences from South Asia it explores the history and contemporary dialectics of trans-jurisdictional global networks emanating from 'from above' and 'from below'.
