Abstract

Translation of abstract (English)

Why is a consideration of the concept of "introspection" interesting in the neurosciences? At the beginning of the modern times introspection was seen as natural tool of philosophy. Locke and Hume were also interested in a definition of introspection. While the founder of the modern psychology, the (Proto) - brain researcher and philosopher William JamesJsaw introspection as a natural ability of the mind and as a sensible and meaningful method, it got in the course of behaviorism discredited. During the last 10 years this formerly avoided concept is used in the philosophy of the psychology more and more often. Partly new clinical and theoretical drafts are explained with it introspection, partially theoretical drafts are applied to the concept of the introspection. An important function of the analytic philosophy consists in the examination of the definition of a concept. Is “introspection” a meaningful concept?Bennett and Hacker's book "philosophical foundations of neuroscience" delivers an important basis for discussion. In this essay. Bennett and Hackers ideas are aplied to the question whether “introspection” is a pragmatic and useful concept for modern cognitive neuroscience.
