Abstract

The creation and maintenance of glycan databases is critically important for the development of the field of glycobiology. As part of the process to build up the database, any deposited sequences need to be validated to ensure the correctness of the database. This thesis details the design and implementation of a semi-automatic system to validate new sequences with respect to the context that the sequences appear in.

Die Erstellung und Aktualisierung von Glykan-Datenbanken ist äusserst wichtig fuer den Fortschritt im Gebiet der Glykobiologie. Zum Prozess des Datenbankaufbaus gehört auch die Validierung hinterlegter Sequenzen um die Fehlerfreiheit der Datenbank zu garantieren. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Design und der Implementierung eines semi-automatischen Systems um neue Sequenzen im Bezug auf ihre Struktur zu überprüfen und zu bestätigen.
