abstract_translated_text: During the years 1773-1803 Vincenzo Pacetti, a sculptor well-known in Roman circles during the second half of the 18th and beginnings of the 19th centuries, largely for his producing of copies or restoring of antique sculptures, compiled his own diary which is currently housed in Rome’s Biblioteca Alessandrina. In it he noted occurences involving his own activities and his own opinions on people who visited his studio and purchased his works. Among Pacetti’s numerous visitors there were artists, archaeologists, coIlectioners and lovers of art from the whole of Europe, and these included some Poles. In his diary are to be found numerous references to visits to his studio made by Polish aristocrats and important personages (such as Stanislaus Poniatowski, the primate Michal Jerzy Poniatowski, Stanislaus Kostka Potocki, Adam Jerzy Czartoryski, bishop Ignacy Massalski and the baroness Maria de Cumano Schütter), artistic agents representing the Polish court (Ignazio Brocchi), as well as Polish artists or those living in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (Franciszek Smuglewicz, André Le Brun, Jozef Wall, Jozef Sacco), and also information on sculptures both viewed and purchased by a number of such persons in his studio.
