abstract_translated_text: The cathedral of Legnica preserves five statues dating from c. 1270–1300. The author presents a summing up of the extant literature on the subject and the conservation treatments the statues had undergone in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The article offers an iconographic analysis of one of the sculptures which is supposed to represent a farewell of Sts Peter and Paul. Numerous questions, however, have remained unanswered: Are the statues part of the original furnishing of the church, which was re-done in the fourteenth century? What was their original arrangement and function?
