The second treatise, Counsel and Advise to all Builders, followed one year later in 1663. Both works are still in the tradition of Alvise Cornaro and Henry Wotton, and others who followed them, pragmatic and empirical in orientation, and witten more for patrons, for men of the ordinary kind, and for executing supervisors, builders, and workmen than for elevated architects.
