abstract: Mit dem Goldenen Löwen für den besten nationalen Beitrag zur 58. Biennale di Venezia prämiert, stellt der Litauische Pavillon Sun & Sea (Marina) durch die Kombination diverser ästhetischer Element ein einzigartiges Kunstwerk dar, verbinden sich Installation und Performance zu einem Kommentar über einen globalen Status Quo. Das Research Paper versteht sich in diesem Zusammenhang als eine Analyse des Künstlerischen als rhetorisches Stilmittel, um ausgehend von theoretischen Konzepten wie Futuring, Pre-Enactment und Arte Útil die Möglichkeiten der Kunst als soziale Praxis zu beleuchten. Im Wege einer Auseinandersetzung mit den nachhallenden visuellen Bildern der Strandoper werden die vielen Schichten des Werks untersucht, um auf diese Weise Einblicke in das affektive Potenzial des Künstlerischen zu gewinnen.

Drawing on the theoretical framework of futuring, pre-enactment and Arte Útil, the thesis is an exploration of the artistic as a rhetoric tool employed to stimulate emotional engagement and to elicit an affective response in the spectators who through the powerful visual imagery are invited to reflect on a given status quo. By this, the possibility of art as a social practice is examined through an analysis of the beach opera‘s many layers that create an echo in the beholder.
