TY - GEN TI - Michelangelos Masken. Zur Geschichte eines grotesken Gesichts A1 - Zöllner, Frank T3 - Römische Studien der Bibliotheca Hertziana Y1 - 2018/// SP - 27 UR - https://archiv.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/artdok/9396/ AV - public EP - 46 N2 - My contribution deals with the masks and grotesque faces that often appear in Michelangelo's oeuvre, namely in the Medici chapel, in his drawing "The Dream" and in a copy of Battista Franco's drawing after a lost ?concetto? of Michelangelo. I try to show that Michelangelo actually lost his original face when Pietro Torrigiani crushed his nose. Thus Michelangelo?s face was a mask which later became his trademark and which is emblematic both of his character and of his thoughts about art. CY - München ID - artdok9396 ER -
