Particularly in the collaboration between humanities and natural sciences, not all that is technically possible is also helpful for a study. In this paper, an archaeological project is presented that connects both solid basic research and the newest technologies, offering a new way of perceiving historical space by creating three-dimensional virtual reality models. An overview of the technical aspects of the first year of the Domitilla project is presented: the first part introduces the catacomb, previous studies and the present research concept, whilst the second part reports on the strategy and the initial results of the documentation. abstract_translated_lang: eng date: 2008 date_type: published id_scheme: DOI id_number: 10.11588/propylaeumdok.00000530 portal_cluster_id: p-caa2007 portal_order: 0022 ppn_swb: 1400452236 own_urn: urn:nbn:de:bsz:16-propylaeumdok-5306 language: eng bibsort: ZIMMERMANNSHOWINGTHE2008 full_text_status: public place_of_pub: Bonn pagerange: 58-64 book_title: Layers of Perception.
