Abstract
Der Heilbronner Arzt Robert Mayer hatte 1842 als Erster die allgemeine Gültigkeit des Satzes von der Erhaltung der Energie (seinerzeit formuliert als ,,Erhaltung der Kraft'') erkannt. Er wurde aber in den wissenschaftlichen Kreisen kaum wahrgenommen.
