Abstract
Der Artikel analysiert die Gestalt des General Iwolgin in Dostojewskijs Roman "Der Idiot". Konstatiert werden Übereinstimmungen der Figurencharakteristik mit dem psychopathologischen Befund der "Pseudologia phantastica". Die Rolle der krankhaften Lüge wird vor dem Hintergrund des Dostojewskijschen Erzählkosmos gedeutet als Hinweis auf ein falsches Bewusstsein der analysierten Figur, nämlich als einer im Kirkegaardschen Sinne nicht lebbaren ästhetischen Existenz.
