On the basis of 17 observed filters they were classified according to redshift and spectral energy distribution. In this work we present analysis of the population of galaxies in the redshift range of 1.1 > z > 0.1. For late type galaxies no evidence for evolution in the B--band luminosity function can be found over the whole redshift range ( phi* ~ 0.003 1/Mpc , M* ~ -21.5mag, alpha ~ -1.5). For early type galaxies (E, S0, Sa, Sb and Sc) we found an evolution of the luminosity function. The bright cut-off of the luminosity function is shifted by 1.5 magnitudes. Thus, the population of galaxies tends to become brighter with time. The fraction of early type galaxies rises towards lower redshifts by a factor of 1.5. The population of all galaxy types tend to become redder at local redshifts (B-V rises).Comparing the CADIS data set to simulations of hierarchical modeling, the simulated data set becomes redder at low redshift, as well. We analyzed simulations of chemically consistent spectral evolution with our photometric data and determined the time passed since the last major star formation process in early type galaxies. We found strong evidence that the star formation rate peaks around z = 1.4 as the Madau-plot suggested [Madau 98]. abstract_translated_lang: eng class_scheme: pacs class_labels: distance s, 98.80.Es, etc), early Univ, cosmologic date: 2002 date_type: published id_scheme: DOI id_number: 10.11588/heidok.00001944 ppn_swb: 1643279165 own_urn: urn:nbn:de:bsz:16-opus-19444 date_accepted: 2002-02-12 advisor: HASH(0x55d997b83d58) language: eng bibsort: KUHLMANNBEPROPERTIES2002 full_text_status: public citation: Kuhlmann, Bernd Max Friedrich von (2002) Properties of the population of field galaxies at medium redshift.
