The work tests a description-based anaphor resolution paradigm which replaces classical role noun antecedents through role descriptions not containing any grammatical gender cue to the referent gender. This solution allows a cross-linguistic comparison between a grammatical gender language (German) and a natural gender language (English). Moreover, the research analyzes the impact of gender representations on thematic role assignment during sentence reading. The research employs the eye-tracking methodology to document the time-course of gender typicality/stereotype activation and its effect on anaphor resolution processes. date: 2016 id_scheme: DOI id_number: 10.11588/heidok.00020582 ppn_swb: 1656540991 own_urn: urn:nbn:de:bsz:16-heidok-205825 date_accepted: 2016-03-18 advisor: HASH(0x55f3693414c8) language: eng bibsort: REALICHIARCOGNITIVER2016 full_text_status: public citation: Reali, Chiara (2016) Cognitive Representation of Gender Typicality and its Effects on Linguistic Processing.
