(2009) to Surveys with Varying Interval-Widths subjects: ddc-330 divisions: i-181000 abstract: The approach by Engelberg, Manski, and Williams (2009) to convert probabilistic survey responses into continuous probability distribution requires that the question intervals are equally wide. Almost all recently established household surveys have intervals of varying widths. Applying the standard approach to surveys with varying widths gives implausible and potentially misleading results. This note shows how the approach of Engelberg et al. (2009) can be adjusted to account for intervals of unequal width. date: 2021-11 id_scheme: DOI id_number: 10.11588/heidok.00030933 schriftenreihe_cluster_id: sr-3 schriftenreihe_order: 0707 ppn_swb: 1785176366 own_urn: urn:nbn:de:bsz:16-heidok-309336 language: eng bibsort: BECKERCHRIEXTENDINGT202111 full_text_status: public series: Discussion Paper Series / University of Heidelberg, Department of Economics volume: 0707 place_of_pub: Heidelberg pages: 10 citation: Becker, Christoph ; Duersch, Peter ; Eife, Thomas ; Glas, Alexander (2021) Extending the Procedure of Engelberg et al.
