The Software Management Plans (SMPs) are a nice complement to the FAIR4RS principles and research software good practices. A machine-actionable layer providing semantically structured metadata describing the research software would make it easier for machines to process the data and would enable, for instance, the creation of Knowledge Graphs around research software metadata and related research artifacts (e.g., data processed by the software). To this end, we have created a metadata schema supporting machine-actionable SMPs (maSMPs) based on schema.org, and compatible with Bioschemas and Codemeta. To make it easier for researchers, we are also working on a tool to automatically extract such metadata from GitHub repositories. Here we introduce our approach towards maSMPs and present our preliminary work on automatic metadata extraction from GitHub API. date: 2025 id_scheme: DOI id_number: 10.11588/heidok.00036416 collection: c-62 ppn_swb: 1923427776 own_urn: urn:nbn:de:bsz:16-heidok-364164 language: eng bibsort: SOLANKIDHWAUTOMATEDM20250314 full_text_status: public place_of_pub: Heidelberg event_title: E-Science-Tage 2025 event_location: Universität Heidelberg event_dates: 12.03.2025 - 14.03.2025 citation: Solanki, Dhwani ; Venkatesh, Suhasini ; Rebholz-Schuhmann, Dietrich ; Jael Castro, Leyla (2025) Automated Metadata Extraction Compliant With Machine-Actionable Software Management Plans.
