%X This paper will examine the visualization of texts in late-Ming (1573-1644) publications through a case study on the T’ien-chang-ke edition of The Story of The Western Wing printed in 1640. The Story of the Western Wing narrates a love-story and is considered to be the most published play during the late Ming Dyasty (late 16th/early 17th century). The edition were mostly published with illustrations. I wish to investigate the interaction between image, text, and other contemporary visual sources, in order to explore the dialogue between print culture and visual culture during this period.
