abstract: Ausgehend von der theoretischen Rahmenkonzeption zur Expertiseforschung von Ericsson und Smith (1991) wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit die Höchstleistung von Handballtorhütern untersucht. Gemäß der Rahmenkonzeption werden hierzu Experimente zur Identifikation, den Mechanismen und der Entwicklung der senso-motorischen Expertise durchgeführt. Mittels einer Testbatterie mit domän-spezifischen und generellen Anteilen werden einzelne Aspekte der Informationsverarbeitung als potentielle Mechanismen separiert. Aus den Daten wird in der Diskussion die „Just-in-time“-Hypothese abgeleitet, die davon ausgeht, dass ein primärer Aspekt der Expertise von Handballtorhütern die genaue zeitliche Passung zum Wurf ist. Abschließend werden methodische Limitierungen diskutiert und Implikationen für die Sportpraxis vorgestellt.
abstract_translated_text: Starting from the theoretical framework by Ericsson and Smith (1991), the present thesis examines the high abilities of handball goalkeepers. As structured in this framework, experiments on identification, mechanisms, and development of sensori-motor expertise were conducted. Using multiple tests with domain-specific and general parts, single aspects of information processing were separated as potential mechanisms of expertise. From the acquired data a “Just-in-time”-hypothesis is derived, which suggests temporal accuracy in reaction execution as a primary aspect of expertise in handball goalkeepers. Concluding remarks discuss methodological limitations within the study and present practical implications.
