Abstract

Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht den Vorhof des Tempels Ramses III. in Karnak. Die Grundlage zur Analyse bildet ein neu entwickeltes Schema zur Interpretation eines ägyptischen Tempels sowie die Publikation des Epigraphic Survey des Oriental Institute of Chicago von Harold Nelson (NELSON, H.H., Ramses III.’s temple within the great inclosure of Amun. Part I, Reliefs and inscriptions at Karnak I, OIP 25, Chicago 1936).

Translation of abstract (English)

The present study examines the forecourt of the temple Ramses III. in Karnak. The basis for the analysis is a newly developed scheme for the interpretation of an Egyptian temple as well as the publication of the Epigraphic Survey of the Oriental Institute of Chicago by Harold Nelson (NELSON, H.H., Ramses III.’s temple within the great inclosure of Amun. Part I, Reliefs and inscriptions at Karnak I, OIP 25, Chicago 1936). The focus of the study lies in the development of the decoration. For this purpose, all reliefs are described and their corresponding inscriptions translated. Subsequently, the scenes are iconographically classified and interpreted according to the interpretation scheme. Finally, the architecture of the forecourt is combined with the elaborated decoration program and included in the building program Ramses III. incorporated.
