Abstract

Salvatore Sciarrino (*1947) ist aufgrund seiner unverwechselbaren musikalischen Sprache und seiner Innovationen auf dem Gebiet der Neuen Musik einer der wichtigsten internationalen zeitgenössischen Komponisten. In dieser Dissertation wird sein vierzehntes Musiktheaterwerk, La porta della legge (Quasi un monologo circolare) thematisiert. Sciarrino verwendet Franz Kafkas Erzählung Vor dem Gesetz als Vorlage für sein Werk. Die musikwissenschaftliche Analyse, welche die Struktur des Werkes, die kompositorischen Aspekte und die Wechselwirkungen zwischen Literatur und Musikdramaturgie umfasst, wird mit einer Untersuchung des Kommunikationspotenzials, der Rezeption und der Wirkung des Werkes auf das Publikum kombiniert. Kafkas Erzählung als Vorlage für eine Oper zu verwenden, stellt aus verschiedenen Gründen eine Herausforderung dar. Sciarrinos Werk gelingt es sowohl durch seine makroformale Struktur als auch durch seine musikalische Textur, den paradoxen Zirkel von Vor dem Gesetz wiederzugeben und gleichzeitig eine moderne Interpretationsrichtung einzuschlagen.

Translation of abstract (English)

Salvatore Sciarrino (*1947) is one of the most important international contemporary composers due to his unique musical language and his innovations in the field of New Music. His fourteenth music theater work, La porta della legge (Quasi un monologo circolare), is the subject of this dissertation. Sciarrino uses Franz Kafka's story Before the Law as a model for his composition. The musicological analysis, which includes the structure of the work, the compositional aspects and the interactions between literature and musical dramaturgy, is combined with an investigation of the work's communication potential, reception and effect on the audience. Using Kafka's short story as a basis for an opera is a challenge for various reasons. Sciarrino's work, both through its macro-formal structure and its musical texture, succeeds in reproducing the paradoxical circle of Before the Law, while at the same time taking a modern direction of interpretation.
