Abstract
Translation of abstract (English)
The main focus of this article is the genealogy of Aspelta, written on his inthronisation-stela. There seven generations of female members of the royal court, all bearing the title snt njswt (king‘s sister) are mentioned to legitimate the election of the Nubian king Aspelta (early 6th cent. BC). The women, their titles and the function of the genealogy will be discussed. The identification of the depicted mwt njswt (king’s mother) as Nasalsa is questioned and rejected.
