Abstract
Das vorliegende Werk betrachtet griechisch beschriebene Papyrusamulette aus dem römischen Ägypten - nicht wie bisher in der Forschung üblich unter ausschließlich inhaltlichen Gesichtspunkten, sondern anhand ihrer Materialität in ihrem historischen Kontext. Willer gleicht die erhaltenen Artefakte mit Mumienporträts und den Anleitungen in überlieferten Handbüchern ab, um dem Umgang mit sogenannt magischen Papyrusamuletten in all seinen Aspekten von der Herstellung bis zum Ende ihrer Nutzungszeit näherzukommen.
