Abstract
Der Beitrag gibt anhand ausgewählter Beispiele einen knappen Überblick über Siedlungs- und Bestattungsformen der Alt- und Neupalastzeit auf Kreta (ca. 1900-1425 v. Chr.). Neben archäologischen werden auch anthropologische Befunde herangezogen, um Aussagen über die Lebensbedingungen im bronzezeitlichen Kreta zu treffen. Am Schluß steht die Frage nach den Ursachen für das Ende der Palastzeit.
