Abstract

The Mannheim Living Labs are part of a highly innovative and dynamic ecosystem with a variety of players that together form a unique and integrative medical technology landscape of clinics, industry and science. In these living labs, complex medical and regulatory challenges are tackled by companies and start-ups alike. Participatory processes and bundled expertise help to overcome these challenges. This White Paper presents the Mannheim Model of living labs, which serves as a beacon in the German-speaking world due to its pioneering structure in the medical technology sector.

Die Mannheimer Reallabore sind Teil eines hoch innovativen und dynamischen Ökosystems mit vielfältigen Akteur:innen, die gemeinsam eine einzigartige und integrative Medizintechniklandschaft aus Klinik, Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft formen. In diesen Reallaboren werden komplexe medizinische und regulatorische Herausforderungen von Unternehmen und insbesondere Startups adressiert und durch partizipative Prozesse und gebündelte Expertise bewältigt. In diesem White Paper wird das Mannheimer Modell zu Reallaboren präsentiert, das aufgrund seiner zukunftsweisenden Struktur im Medizintechnikbereich Leuchtturmcharakter im deutschsprachigen Raum aufweist.
