Abstract

Resumen: Este estudio analiza un caso especial de relaciones transmediterráneas en el siglo xii. En el contexto de las peregrinaciones europeas a Tierra Santa existió una relación comparativamente estrecha entre Jerusalén y Santiago de Compostela en el nivel del capítulo catedralicio. Especialmente en las primeras décadas del siglo xii el patriarca de Jerusalén y el arzobispo de Santiago mantuvieron un contacto regular. Elemento constitutivo de esta conexión, y portadores de esta mutua influencia, fueron los peregrinos y enviados. En el marco temporal bajo consideración ambos centros de la Cristiandad estuvieron, de manera muy interesante,en el punto culminante de su influencia, pues el siglo xii fue la «Edad Dorada» tanto para Santiago como para el patriarcado de Jerusalén.

Translation of abstract (English)

Abstract: This article examines a special case of transmediterranean relations in the 12th century. Within the context of European pilgrimage to the Holy Land existed a comparatively close relationship between Jerusalem and Santiago de Compostela on a cathedral chapter level. Especially in the first decades of the 12th century the patriarch of Jerusalem and the archbishop of Santiago maintained regular contact. Constituting element of this connection, and carriers of mutual influence, were pilgrims and envoys. In the timeframe under consideration both centres of Christianity were, interestingly, on an absolute high point of their influence, the 12th century was a ‘golden age’ for both Santiago and the patriarchate of Jerusalem.
