Abstract

Karl Friedrich Schinkel gilt als bedeutendster Baumeister Preußens. Die Dorfkirche von Bischmisheim ist aus mehreren Gründen ein besonderes Werk in seinem Oeuvre: Es handelt sich um das südlichste Bauwerk Schinkels, zugleich ist es sein letzter Zentralkirchenbau. Der Beitrag schildert die Geschichte des Baus und versucht, sie in die Lebensgeschichte Schinkels wie in die Kulturgeschichte Preußens einzubetten.

Translation of abstract (English)

Karl Friedrich Schinkel is said to be the most important architect of Prussia. The village church of Bischmisheim plays a special role in Schinkel’s oeuvre, for several reasons: It is not only his southernmost but also his last central plan village church construction. The article describes the history of the Bischmisheim church and its role in the life of Schinkel as well as the cultural history of Prussia.
