Publishing documents on Art-Dok

Electronic publishing on Art-Dok is free of charge. The Staff of Heidelberg University Library provides the upload of your file(s). The following preparations are necessary

Step 1: Provide the text in an electronic format

Our file format we prefer is PDF (Portable Document Format) . However documents can be submitted as a PostScript or HTML version, too. A document to be published on ART-Dok has to be converted into one of these formats.
Additional services like formatting or converting documents for a publication on ART-Dok can be supported after prior consultation by the ART-Dok team. For this it is possible to submit word files, too.

Files can be sent via E-Mail or via mail (as CD-ROM/DVD).

The University Library retains the right to convert documents into another file format, e.g. for technical reasons!

Step 2: Provide an abstract in German language (max. 5.000 signs) or if preferred in English language (5.000 signs)

Files can be sent via E-Mail or via mail (as CD-ROM/DVD).

Schritt 3: Fill in the Copyright Agreement

By signing this form authors transfer to the University Library the right to reproduce, make available to the public and store the document on its institutional server. Please, click the button "Copyright Agreement", print it as a hardcopy, complete and send it to the University Library (by fax or mail). Authors warrant that they are the sole ownerof the submitted documents and that they have made no commitments with any other party prohibiting the rights of use stated above, that the document is original and does not infringe upon any copyright or any other right of any other party. With the help of SHERPA, a British Open Access initiative, authors can check the copyright policies of the most important publishers and their attitude towards self-archiving.

Please, send the completed form via mail or fax to the University Library of Heidelberg (see contact information on the form).

Authors are liable to comply with copyright regulations. Authors will be solely responsible for publishing. Heidelberg University Library assumes no responsibility.

Publishing on Art-Dok the authors retain their rights of use, particularly the right to publish the document in a book, journal or post it on other institutional repositories. In recognition of the author(s) desire to publish their documents simultaneously online more and more publishers do grant their authors the right to post the document on the author's personal or institutional web site or server corresponding to SHERPA. According to the recommendations of the Wissenschaftsrat academics are encouraged to retain their right of posting the document on institutional repositories - if necessary after a certain retention period - in the copyright agreements with the publisher [see Empfehlungen zur digitalen Informationsversorgung durch Hochschulbibliotheken. Hrsg. v. Wissenschaftsrat, Greifswald 12. Juli 2001, PDF (10.12.2001), S. 26].

Documents published on Art-Dok are not dynamic. This means: in case of modifications the modified document will be stored as a new version.
