Abstract

Mit diesem Buch legte der deutsche Ägyptologe Richard Lepsius Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts eine für die damalige Zeit mustergültige Edition eines Totenbuch-Papyrus vor. Er wählte dafür Papyrus Turin 1791 aus der Ptolemäerzeit, weil er vollständig erhalten ist und die meisten Sprüche der späteren Totenbuch-Tradition (Saitische Rezension) überliefert. An dieser Edition und an diesem Papyrus orientiert sich bis heute die Nummerierung der Totenbuchsprüche Tb 1 bis 165. Papyrus Turin 1791 ist noch immer eine der bedeutendsten Totenbuch-Handschriften aus der Ptolemäerzeit und dient in jeder Edition eines Totenbuchs als Vergleichsobjekt. Das Digitalisat wurde vom Dr. Marcus Müller (Totenbuch-Projekt des Universität Bonn) zur Verfügung gestellt.

Translation of abstract (English)

This book is the edition of the Book of the Dead papyrus Turin 1791 from the Ptolemaic period. The German Egyptologist Richard Lepsius has edited the papyrus in the middle of the 19th century as an exemplar of Book of the Dead manuscripts. The modern numbering of the Book of the Dead spells (BD 1-165) is based on this papyrus, where most of the spells which were common in the late tradition of the Book of the Dead (Saitic Recension) are attested. Papyrus Turin 1791 is still one of the most important Book of the Dead manuscripts from the Ptolemaic Period and a model papyrus for all the modern editions of the Books of the Dead. This digital version of the Book of Dead was provided by Dr. Marcus Müller ("Totenbuch"-project, university of Bonn).
