Abstract
Der Mathematiker und Philosoph Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) arbeitete über Kegelschnitte, erfand 1645 eine Rechenmaschine und untersuchte den Luftdruck. Er schuf die Grundlagen der Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie und befasste sich auch mit der Zykloide. Ein religiöses Erweckungserlebnis Ende 1654 führte zu vertiefter Beschäftigung mit dem christlichen Glauben.
