Abstract
The article discusses the specific tradition of perfume container labels designed for and/or distributed on the Adeni market in the 20th century. The exemplary historical labels collected there in the years 2002-2007 disclose efforts of both local creativity and marketing by the international industry in those decades. Specifically the design, the poetic quality, and the written information on the labels give report of the various product ideals, marketing goals and strategies, and thus of Aden’s exceptional supraregional history and embedment and the tailoring of a South Arabian and Islamic perfumery aesthetics.
