Abstract

Translation of abstract (English)

The 'German-Soviet Friendship-Society (DSF)' has been established under the name 'Society for Soviet Culture' in 1947. 'Kultur als Vehikel' deals with first years of this organisation and shows that the DSF also, like mostly all parts auf the GDR-society, was part of the transformation into a stalinistic cadre-organisation. For the analysis the author used the archive of the DSF in Berlin (now located at SAPMO, Bundesarchiv) with its various documents (letters, press-articles, interna, official papers etc.). A special chapter examines the magazine of the DSF, the so called 'New Society' (Die Neue Gesellschaft).
