Abstract

Das Buch ist der erste Band einer Trilogie und wurde im Jahre 2002 in Buchform publiziert. Der Text ist in 6 Kapitel eingeteilt. Die Einleitung (A) diskutiert u.a. verschiedene Bezeichnung der behandelten Religion, demographische und geographische Grunddaten sowie einige grundlegende konzeptionelle Fragen. Das zweite Kapitel (B) behandelt die Stellung und Entwicklung Zarathushtras in der Geschichte der nach ihm benannten Religion. Das dritte Kapitel (C) beschäftigt sich mit dem Avesta, der Sammlung der Ritualtexte. Das vierte Kapitel (D) folgt der Geschichte der Religion Zarathushtras in der politischen Geschichte des alten Irans in vorislamischer Zeit. Das fünfte Kapitel E behandelt die weitere Entwicklung von der Islamisierung Irans bis an die Schwelle zur Moderne, wobei neben der Entwicklung in Iran auch die Entstehung und Geschichte der indischen Gemeinden, der sog. Parsen, diskutiert werden. Das abschliessende sechste Kapitel (F) gibt ein religionstheoretisches Resümee. Im Anhang finden sich Abkürzungsverzeichnis, eine Liste der grundlegenden Literatur sowie ein Glossar zu zentralen Begriffen. Das Buch hat 2 Karten und 13 Abbildungen.

Translation of abstract (English)

This is the text of a book originally published in 2002. It is the first volume of a set of three. The text covers the history of Zoroastrianism from its beginnings to the early Modern period. The main chapters discuss names of the religion and approaches of studying it (A), the figure of Zarathustra in history and its development in the history of Zoroastrianism (B), the Avesta (C), Zoroastrianism in pre-Islamic Iranian political history (D), and the fate of the religion after the Islamic conquest of Iran, including the formation and development of the Indian Zoroastrian communities, the Parsees (E). A theoretical conclusion (F) is followed by a list of abbreviations, a bibliography, and a glossary. The book contains two maps and 13 illustrations.
