Abstract
Da die Diathek in einem Kunstgeschichtlichen Universitätsinstitut eines der wichtigsten Arbeitsmittel darstellt, der inhaltlich-thematische Zugriff aber meist nicht möglich ist, wurde die Bilddatenbank IMAGO entwickelt. Sie kommt als Recherche-Instrument, Forschungs-Datenbank und Inventarisierungsprogramm zu einem vielfältigen Einsatz. Der Artikel gibt einen Überblick über bestehende kunsthistorische Regelwerke und erläutert den für IMAGO entwickelten Thesaurus.
