Abstract
Der Artikel hat die allgemeine Forschungslage der literarischen Gattungstheorie zum Gegenstand. Zunächst wird der Begriff „Gattung“ unter dem Blickwinkel seiner „funktionalen Etymologie“ erörtert. Anschließend wird er unter der axiologischen, gnoselogischen und ontologischen Perspektive betrachtet.
