Abstract

Translation of abstract (English)

The "Studies of Venantius Fortunatus" discuss problems of specific biographic data based on astronomic and calendarical informations in the poetic opus that were not regarded so far. The poets own comments corroborate the argumentation. Previous interpretations on selected poems are completed and corrected. A new interpretation on the origin and aim of the figurative poems is presented. The "Blessing of the cross" (Sp. 2) so far listed at the "Spuria" is now attributed to Fortunatus. For the first time the carmen Sp. 11 ( ...it fieri nos qui dedit esse sacratas) is interpreted and integrated into the opus. - The second part of the thesis (the German translation of the complete verses) is published under the title "Venantius Fortunatus, Gelegentlich Gedichte, Stuttgart 2006".
