Abstract
Die Rom-Lyrik du Bellays inszeniert den Niedergang der welthistorischen Bedeutung des römischen Imperiums im Spiegel architektonischer Vergänglichkeit. Sie eröffnet in letzter Konsequenz den Blick auf das 'Nichts', das im Durchgang durch die Historie als Bedeutungsrest den Dichter beschäftigt. Gleichzeitig wird diese Dokumentation des Verschwindens zahlenkompositorisch kunstvoll gestaltet.
