Abstract

Somananda Natha is the founder of the Pratyabhijna branch of non-dualistic shaivism in Kashmir. In his magnum opus "Sivadristi" he declares that "all are omniscient". His view is investigated here along firsthand translations from the original Sanskrit.

Translation of abstract (German)

Somananda Natha ist der Begründer der als "Pratybhijna" / Wiedererkennungslehre bekannten Richtung des nicht-dualistischen Shivaismus, die sich in Kaschmir entwickelte und unter Abhinavagupta ihren Höhepunkt erreichte. In seinem Hauptwerk "Sivadristi" behauptet er "alle sind allwissend". Diese These wird im vorliegenden Aufsatz erläutert und bewertet. Dazu werden die relevanten Textstellen direkt aus dem Sanskrit ins Englische übersetzt.
