Abstract

The aim of the dissertation is to understand Karl Barths hamartology in his early and late dogmatical works. According to Barth the various predications of sin converge into the concept of the opposition to God. Barth describes this human hostility to God in the context of the theology of creation at his Göttingen period, but in his church dogmatics in the light of christology, more precisely, of the doctrine of Christ's triple office. Barth denies that man can overcome by his own efforts the vicious circle of the corruption in which his sins and their consequences entwine one another.
