Abstract
Thema dieser Arbeit ist die Untersuchung der Reaktivitäten verschiedener Oxo-Komplexe der Metalle Vanadium, Chrom und Mangan gegenüber organischen Verbindungen sowie die Isolierung und Charakterisierung dabei auftretender reaktiver Intermediate. Der erste Teil basiert auf der Untersuchung der Reaktion von Chromylchlorid mit tetrasubstituierten Epoxiden. Der erste Schritt der Reaktion mit Bisadamantylidenepoxid ist eine Cr(VI)-katalysierte Epoxid/Keton-Isomerisierung. Nach einem protonengekoppelten Elektronentransfer und dem Abfangen des entstandenen organischen Radikals wird ein O=Cr(V)-Alkoxid gebildet. Mit dessen röntgenographischer Identifizierung konnte erstmals in dieser Form auf molekularer Ebene ein Beleg dafür erbracht werden, dass d0-Metalloxo-Funktionen als Radikalfänger dienen können. Diese Reaktivität war vorgeschlagen worden, um das Auftreten von Alkoholen bei Alkanoxidationen durch Chromylchlorid zu erklären. Der vorgeschlagene Bildungsmechanismus des O=Cr(V)-Alkoxides wurde durch die Synthese und röntgenographische Charakterisierung eines VOCl3-Komplexes als Derivat eines reaktiven Intermediates untermauert. Der zweite Teil der Arbeit basiert auf den bis zum heutigen Tage nicht endgültig geklärten Fragen bezüglich des Mechanismus’ der Oxidation von Olefinen mit Permanganat. Um Derivate der Primärprodukte dieser Reaktion zu isolieren, wurde die Reaktivität des flüchtigen Permanganylchlorid gegenüber Olefinen mittels Matrixisolationsmethoden untersucht. Bei der Umsetzung von MnO3Cl mit Tetramethylethylen wurde selektiv ein Produkt gebildet. Dieses war nicht das bei einem Reaktionsverlauf in Analogie zur Permanganat-Oxidation zu erwartende Glycolat, sondern ein Komplex aus Tetramethylethylenoxid und MnO2Cl. Um diese unerwartete Reaktion zu erklären, wurden DFT-Rechnungen hinsichtlich der Thermodynamik und der elektronischen Aktivierungsbarrieren durchgeführt. Die bevorzugte Epoxidierung wurde durch präparative Umsetzungen bestätigt.
Translation of abstract (English)
The present thesis deals with the investigation of reactivities of several oxo complexes of the elements vanadium, chromium and manganese with organic compounds and the isolation and characterisation of reactive intermediates. The first part deals with the investigation of reactions of CrO2Cl2 with tetra-substituted epoxides. The first step in the reaction with bisadamantylidene epoxide is a Cr(VI)-catalysed epoxide/ketone isomerisation. Afterwards a proton-coupled electron transfer occurs and the subsequent trapping of the organic radical yields a O=Cr(V)-alkoxide, which has been analysed by means of x-ray structure determination. Thereby, for the first time in this form, evidence for the addition of organic radicals to d0-M=O bonds had been provided on the molecular level. This type of reactivity had been put forward in the past to explain alcohol formation in oxidations of alkanes with CrO2Cl2. The mechanism suggested for the formation of the O=Cr(V)-alkoxide is supported by the synthesis and the x-ray characterisation of a corresponding VOCl3 complex acting as a derivative of a reactive intermediate. The second part of the thesis deals with the questions with regard to the mechanism of the oxidation of olefins with permanganate, which down to the present day are not finally answered. In order to isolate derivatives of primary products, the reactivity of the volatile MnO3Cl towards olefins was investigated using matrix isolation techniques. In the conversion of MnO3Cl with tetramethylethylene selectively one product was formed. The latter was not the expected glycolate, which could have formed in analogy to the oxidation of olefins with permanganate, but a complex consisting of tetramethyloxirane and a MnO2Cl-fragment. In order to explain this unexpected course of reaction, DFT-calculations concerning the thermodynamics and the electronic reaction barriers were performed. Conversions on a preparative scale validated the favoured epoxide formation.
