Abstract
Im Vorfeld der Arbeiten an der Ortsumfahrung L123 bei Staufen wurden 2023 acht Sondageschnitte angelegt. Während die meisten Befunde neuzeitlich oder spätmittelalterlich sind, ergaben Steinsetzungen in Schnitt 02 unklare Strukturen nahe eines bekannten römischen Gutshofs. Eine Deutung als Grabmalfundamente ist möglich, bleibt aber offen. Geplante geophysikalische Untersuchungen sollen Klärung bringen und Hinweise auf weitere Strukturen liefern.
Translation of abstract (English)
In 2023, eight areas were uncovered in advance of the L123 bypass construction near Staufen. While most features date to the early modern or late medieval period, stone settings in Trench 02 revealed ambiguous structures near a known Roman villa. An interpretation as possible tomb foundations is plausible but remains unconfirmed. Planned geophysical surveys aim to clarify the context and identify further associated structures.
