Abstract

ARTstor is a non-profit initiative, founded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. ARTstor’s mission is to use digital technology to enhance scholarship, teaching and learning in the arts and associated fields. In pursuing this goal in collaboration with others, ARTstor is developing – and will continually expand – a library of digital images and accompanying information, in order to support the needs of scholars, teachers and students. ARTstor works closely with content providers as well as users at educational and cultural institutions throughout the world to develop this public utility.

ARTstor ist eine Non-Profit-Initiative der Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. ARTstor hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, Bildung und Lehre in der Kunstwissenschaft und verwandten Bereichen durch den Einsatz digitaler Technologie zu fördern. Um dieses Ziel durch gemeinsame Bemühungen zu erreichen, wird ARTstor eine Bibliothek digitaler Bilder und Begleitinformationen aufbauen, ständig weiterentwickeln und zur Verfügung stellen, um die Bedürfnisse von Forschern, Lehrenden und Studierenden zu erfüllen. ARTstor wird sowohl mit den Anbietern als auch den Benutzern der Inhalte aus Bildungs- und kulturellen Institutionen in der ganzen Welt eng zusammenarbeiten, um eine gemeinnützige öffentliche Einrichtung zu schaffen.
