Abstract
Die Nürnberger Kompassmacher-Ordnung aus den Jahren 1535 und 1608 schrieb den Instrumentenmachern vor, nur Klappsonnenuhren aus gutem Elfenbein, Buchsbaum oder Birnbaumholz herzustellen. Die vorliegende Uhr von Thomas Tucher ist jedoch aus schwarzem Ebenholz, Perlmutt und vergoldeten Applikationen hergestellt. Der Beitrag widmet sich im ersten Teil den besonderen exotischen Materialwertigkeiten. Der zweite Teil beschreibt das Instrument nach formalen und stilistischen Merkmalen und ordnet es dem Œuvre Thomas Tuchers zu.
Translation of abstract (English)
According to the Nuremberg Compass-Makersʼ Statute of 1535 and 1608, the instrument makers were only allowed to produce diptych sundials from good ivory and boxwood or pearwood. However, this watch by Thomas Tucher is made of black ebony, mother-of-pearl and gold-plated applications. The first part of the article is dedicated to the special valences of the exotic material. The second part describes the instrument according to formal and stylistic characteristics and assigns it to Thomas Tucher's oeuvre.
