Abstract
Die Fakultät für Physik und Astronomie produziert in regelmäßiger Folge für das Universitätsmagazin CAMPUS TV Filme über physikalische Phänomene. Die Länge der Filme ist auf jeweils 90 Sekunden (oder anderthalb Minuten) beschränkt, woraus sich der Titel der Serie 'Team anderthalb' ergibt. In dieser Folge wird die „Kompressibilität“ behandelt. Luft lässt sich komprimieren, Wasser nicht. Diese Eigenschaft von Flüssigkeiten hat John Canton nachgewiesen. Die Grundaussage lautet: Moderne technologische Entwicklungen beruhen durchweg auf den Resultaten zweckfreier Grundlagenforschung, die zum Teil mehr als 100 Jahre zurückliegt. Kurz formuliert: Forschung braucht langen Atem.
