Translation of abstract (English)

The energy-differential cross-section of dissociative recombination of the HD+ molecular ion (HD+ + e -> H + D) was measured with high precision and on an absolute scale, at the heavy-ion storage ring TSR (Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik). The measured cross-section shows a previously unknown structure at electron energies between 1-3 eV, in correlation with the energy thresholds for the opening of additional channels in the dissociation of the intermediate neutral HD molecule. This was explained by autoionization, a process competing with dissociation, and which is related to the number of closed channels. In another experiment, first evidence was observed for vibrational excitation of initially relaxed molecular ions being stored in a heavy-ion storage ring. These processes were attributed to collisions of the stored ions with slow electrons from the ring's electron cooling device, or with molecules from the dilute residual gas in the TSR vacuum system.
