Abstract

Translation of abstract (English)

This thesis introduces a new technique to verify the leaf position of multi leaf collimators (ModuLeaf MLC, MRC Systems, Heidelberg) for intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) during beam delivery. The system is based on a liquid filled ionisation chamber which is segmentated into 400 channels. The device is able to resolve a spatial resolution better than 1 mm (at isocentre, in the direction of the leaf travel). It is possible to check the leaf position in realtime using this system. The chamber was constructed and built in cooperation with the research center in Karlsruhe (FZK). Further investigations aim to find a liquid as a sensitive medium for the ionisation chamber. A suitable set of electronics to measure the signals of the chamber (currents of a few nA) and to read out the data was arranged. The potential for improvement of the quality assurance in IMRT of the new device is discussed.
