Abstract

Translation of abstract (English)

In this thesis the realization of a new type of nonspreading wave packets is presented. It is shown, that an absorption mechanism can compensate the dispersion of a matterwave. Therefore wave packets form around points of minimal absorption whose width doesn"t change in time. The experiments were performed using a slow, intensive beam of metastable argon atoms. A standing light wave resonant with an open transition of the metastable atom acts as a periodic absorptive structure. The wave function is characterized by measuring the momentum distribution. An interferometric method allows to deduce the spatial phase of the nonspreading wave packet. A periodic double-well potential for atoms was created by adding the dipole potential of two standing light waves in a modified setup. This is the starting point for studying tunnelling of single particles. In this thesis numerical simulations concerning the preparation of the initial wave function are presented. Also the extension of the experiment towards a driven system with the goal to demonstrate the effect of coherent destruction of tunnelling is studied numerically.
