Abstract

Translation of abstract (English)

This thesis describes the setup, characterization and application of a laser system that produces intense ultrashort light pulses with a stable carrier–envelope (CE) phase. The light pulses have a duration of just over two optical oscillation cycles. With the stabilization of their CE–phase, which is the relative position of the optical carrier oscillation to its intensity envelope, the electrical field evolution of these pulses is known to a precision of almost 100 attoseconds (1 attosecond = 10^-18 seconds). Additionally, the electric field at the light focus is of similar magnitude to the field inside an atom. Therefore, the laser system is perfectly suited for the investigation of fundamental atomic processes with an attosecond time resolution. Two such experiments were accomplished in this work: For the first time terahertz radiation was produced with a plasma in ambient air without external fields. This is also the first observation of optical rectification in a spatially isotropic medium. This process is a promising method for the long–term stabilization of the "absolute" CE–phase. In a second experiment the multi–photon ionisation of neon atoms was examined by measuring the vectorial momenta of all ionisation fragments in a "reaction microscope". A significant dependence of the ion momenta on the CE–phase of the light pulses was observed in the single ionisation and for the first time in the non–sequential double ionisation of neon.
