Abstract

Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit dem Ende des 14. Jahrhunderts im Umfeld des Trierer Erzbischofs Kuno von Falkenstein entstandenen Prachtcodex des Welschen Gastes. Dabei werden folgende Aspekte betrachtet: Beschreibung, Materialität und Anspruchsniveau der Handschrift, die Werkstatt Kunos und ihre Produktion, das Layout des Codex sowie ein abschließender Vergleich mit einer wenig später und im selben Raum entstandenen Handschrift des Welschen Gastes.

Translation of abstract (English)

The article focuses on the sumptuous New York codex E of the Welscher Gast, that evolved from the political and cultural environment of the archbishop of Trier, Kuno von Falkenstein. The manuscript is descripted in detail, its aspiration level and materiality are being discussed, the workshop and its production are being defined and a comparison to a manuscript that originated in a similar time and place is given.
