Abstract

Der Aufsatz legt die Sammlungsgeschichte der Sammlung Judaica im Germanischen Nationalmuseum bis in die 1920er Jahre dar. Im Zuge wachsenden Interesses an jüdischer Kulturgeschichte bewegten führende Vertreter des Nürnberger Judentums, darunter der Pädagoge Jakob Seifensieder, das GNM zur Einrichtung eines "jüdisch-deutschen Museums". Dies zeigt die empfundene Zugehörigkeit des Judentums zu Deutschland, gleichwohl von jüdischer sowie antisemitischer Seite wiederholte Kritik an der Eingliederung der Judaica bestand. Die Sammlung Judaica wurde nicht als eigene Abteilung geführt, sondern man präsentierte die Objekte im Kontext anderer Fachsammlungen

Translation of abstract (English)

This article describes the history of the collection of Judaica in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum up to the 1920s. In the course of growing interest in Jewish cultural history, leading representatives of Nuremberg Jewry, including the educator Jakob Seifensieder, moved the museum to establish a "Jewish-German museum". This shows the perceived affiliation of Judaism with Germany, although there was repeated criticism of the incorporation of Judaica from Jewish as well as anti-Semitic sides. The Judaica Collection was not managed as a separate department, but the object were presented in the context of other specialized collections
